　こどもの日ひ Children's Day

 
こどもの日ひは毎年まいとし5月5日ごがついつかにお祝いわいします。男おとこの子このいる家庭かていは、カラフルな鯉こいの形かたちの長ながい旗はたを家いえの外そとにかかげます。

Children's Day is annually celebrated on May 5th. Families with boys hoist colorful carp-shaped streamers outside the house.

　お花見はなみ  Cherry blossom viewing

 
お花見はなみでは、友ともだちや家族かぞく、会社かいしゃの同僚どうりょうが集あつまって、桜さくらの花はなを見みながらお弁当べんとうを食たべたりお酒さけを飲のんだりして楽たのしみます。

At cherry blossom viewing, we gather with friends, family or colleagues and have a picnic and eat food while drinking alcohol and viewing the cherry blossoms.

　桜前線さくらぜんせん  Cherry blossom front

 
桜前線さくらぜんせんとは桜さくらの開花予想日かいかよそうびです。基本的きほんてきに九州きゅうしゅうから北海道ほっかいどうへと北上ほくじょうします。

The cherry blossom front shows the foretasted blooming date of cherry blossoms. Bascically it moves northward from Kyushu to Hokkaido.

　ひな祭まつり Doll's Festival

 
3月3日さんがつみっかは、ひな祭まつりです。女おんなの子この健すこやかな成長せいちょうと幸しあわせを祈いのる日ひです。女おんなの子このいる家庭かていでは「ひな人形にんぎょう」と呼よばれる人形にんぎょうを飾かざります。

We have the Doll Festival on March 3. It's the day to pray for healthy growth and happiness for young girls. Most families with girls display dolls called Hina-ningyo.

　雪吊ゆきつり Yukitsuri(Snow suspention/Rope umbrella)

 
雪吊ゆきつりは主おもに松まつの木きを重おもたい雪ゆきから守まもるための手段しゅだんです。

Yukitsuri is a measure to protect mainly pine trees from heavy snow.

　豆まめまき   Throwing beans

 
節分せつぶんには豆まめまきをする風習ふうしゅうがあります。人々ひとびとは「鬼おには外そと、福ふくは内うち」と言いいながら豆まめを投なげます。

We have a custom of throwing beans on Setsubun. People throw beans saying "Evils out, Fortune in."

　節分せつぶん    Setsubun

 
節分せつぶんは日本にほんの伝統行事でんとうぎょうじです。節分せつぶんは冬ふゆと春はるの区切くぎりを意味いみします。今年ことしの節分せつぶんは2月にがつ3日みっかです。

Setsubun is a Japanese traditional event. Setsubun means division of the seasons between winter and spring. This year's Setsubun is on February 3.

　師走しわす December

 
12月じゅうにがつの別べつの名前なまえ「師走しわす」は、年としの終おわりの忙いそがしさを表あらわすことばとして今いまもよく使つかわれています。

Shiwasu, another name of December, is still frequently in use today to describe busy time at the end of the year.

　紅葉狩もみじがり enjoy the fall colors

 京都きょうとは、日本にほんの紅葉狩もみじがりの名所めいしょの1ひとつです。

                                   Kyoto is one of the best places to see fall colors in Japan.
